PRESIDENT SBY ATTENDS OIC SUMMIT TO DISCUSS PALESTINIAN ISSUE

Presiden SBY        Cairo, 26 Rabiul Awwal 1434 H/7 February 2013(MINA) – R.I President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), the first Lady Ani Yudhoyono and the entourage arrived Cairo, Egypt after 2.5 hours flight  from Medina, Saudi Arabia.
      According to www.presidenri.com , Garuda A330-300 aircraft landed on Tuesday (5/2) at around 20:40 local time, or Wednesday (6/2) at 1:40 pm Indonesian time.
       SBY greeted by Egyptian Environment Minister Khaled Abdel-Aal and Ambassador Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt Nurfaizi Suwandi.
      The president attended a series of events of Organization Islamic Cooperation Summit (OIC Summit) held at the Hotel Fairmont Towers began with the opening of the OIC summit and continued to work session and special session to discuss the dispute settlement of  Palestinian territories.

       Indonesia is a country that has always stand in the forefront to keep supporting the Palestinian struggle to gain their independence, said Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Fariz Mehdawi.
     ” Palestine is addressed to be the first issue of Indonesian foreign policy,” he said in a seminar on `The role of Indonesia Palestinian Liberation Struggle ‘at the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) last month.
      According to Mehdawi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of  R.I always express  his support in General Assembly of United Nations (UN).

SBY-Mursi       “Indonesia’s support for Palestinians is not religious issue, and Israeli-Palestinian conflict is not a religious issue. The conflict is due to the Israeli occupation to Palestinian land,” he said.
        He said Indonesia supports to Palestine because it has same history of colonialism.  Israel wants to destroy Palestinian society by building settlements Israel in Palestinian territories.

        More than 750,000 Palestinians became refugees in their own country, and more than 532 Palestinian villages and towns were destroyed completely and replaced with Israeli settlements.
       “We just want to stay in our homeland, gain the independence and live in a peace without war. Palestinian struggle to achieve independence is really needs Indonesian support,” said the Ambassador.
        Directorate General for Asia Pacific and Africa, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ratu Silvy Gayatri said Indonesia would remain consistent in supporting the Palestinian struggle to get their independence.
       According to her, constitutional mandate in the Preamble of 1945 Constitution states that the occupation all around the world should be abolished.
      “In addition, it also based on Indonesian bitter experience which suffered colonialism for centuries,” she said. (T/P04/E1)
