Palestinian FM Warns against Effects of Israeli Occupation Ongoing Cleansing Policies, at Jordan Valley

Ramallah, 10 Sha’ban 1438/7 May 2017 (MINA) – The Palestinian ministry of foreign affairs warned here today against fallouts and effects of the ongoing Israeli occupation, at the Jordan Valley.

In a statement released here tSaturday, the ministry pointed out that the aggressive policy of the Israeli occupation of settlement building is becoming, increasingly, ferocious, as it do not only satisfied with controlling Palestinian water sources and natural resources and utilizing them for serving Israel, but also, intentionally, tend to deprive Palestinian citizens, in general and farmers, in particular, from using them.
These practices fall within a framework of wide-scale war waged by the occupation, on the Palestinian presence, in the valley, in order to evacuate it of Palestinians, through destructing the prerequisites of a viable economic life.

The statement concluded by recalling that these acts are flagrant violation of the international law, the humanitarian international law and principles of human rights, a matter that necessitate a serious response from the international community and related UN agencies, in addition to countries keen on preserving human rights.

Some 47,000 Palestinians live in the part of the valley that lies in the West Bank in about twenty permanent communities, most of them reside in the city of Jericho.

Thousands of Bedouins also live in temporary communities. (T/RS5/RS1)
