LIEBERMAN: A SETTLEMENT WITH PALESTINIANS IS UNREALISTIC

       Gaza City, 9 Dhul Qa’ida 1434/15 September 2013 (MINA) – Israeli former Foreign Minister and Chairman of  Foreign Affairs and security Committee in Israeli parliament , Avider Lieberman, stated that  attempts to reach a peaceful settlement between Israel and the Palestinians in the foreseeable future are unrealistic.

       Lieberman warned that to create an impression that it is possible to accomplish the settlement during the remaining seven months of negotiations “may get negative impact on Israel, El Resalah reported as monitored by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA).

       Lieberman, who is expected to return to position of Minister of Foreign Affairs if the court acquitted him of the charge of corruption, said that negotiations with the Palestinians will not yield any breakthrough, adding he sees no peace settlement in the horizon.

       Talking to the Israeli radio Wednesday, Lieberman said that Israel’s interest is to reach coordination with the Palestinian Authority in two main areas, which are security and economic fields. However, reaching a compromise in political area is not realistic because the conditions are not yet suitable to reach a comprehensive settlement.

       Commenting on the negotiation rounds that have been so far, he said, “All of them have nothing new, so all attempts to artificially speed up negotiations are doomed to failure. (T/P02/P03)
