Kuwait City, MINA – Kuwaiti Emir, Sheikh Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah appointed Aziz Rahim Al-Daihani as the first ambassador to Palestine.

The decision was taken when Kuwait’s firm stance increased its support for Palestinians because of Israel’s illegal occupation, MEMO reported on Wednesday, October 30.

Palestinians welcomed Kuwait, especially after Kuwait boycotted the June 25-26 economic summit in Manama, Bahrain, led by Jared Kushner, son-in-law and senior adviser to US President Donald Trump.

Kuwait is the only Gulf state that boycotted the event, alongside Palestine.

Khaled Al-Jarallah, Kuwait’s Deputy Foreign Minister, said the attitude of the Gulf state was related to the Palestinian struggle was an unwavering position.

He also explained that Kuwait would continue to refrain from normalizing relations with Israel unless the demands of Palestinian people had been met.

During the 18th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement held in Baku, Azerbaijan, Kuwaiti Emir warned that the inability of the international community to find a viable and comprehensive solution to Palestinians would threaten peace and security in the region more than previous.

He also explained that the unilateral policies and actions taken by Israel to change the reality in occupied territories were illegal and illegitimate violations, as well as blatant violations of relevant international resolutions.

“Any solution that does not meet the aspirations and ambitions of Palestinian people will not work,” he said.

Israel has been carrying out massive normalization efforts in recent months, which led Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli figures to visit Gulf countries including Oman, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates to try to quell displeasure with the Jewish state. (T/Sj/P2)
