ISRAELI OCCUPATION NAVY ARRESTS TWO FISHERMEN

Gaza, 8 Muharram 1435/ 12 November 2013 (MINA) – Israeli occupation forces (IOF) detained two Palestinian fishermen off the coast of northern Gaza on Sunday morning and confiscated their small fishing boat.

Nizar Ayyash, the chairman of the Palestinian fishermen syndicate, told Quds Press that IOF soldiers on board a navy gunboat approached the small fishing boat and apprehended the two brothers.

He pointed out that the fishermen were close to the Gaza coast and did not exceed the six nautical miles limit imposed by Israel for fishing, according to AL-QASSAM report quoted by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA), Tuesday (12/11).

Ayyash charged that the Israeli occupation navy was escalating its targeting of Palestinian fishermen and fighting them in their only source of living.

The Israeli navy had detained and wounded 55 fishermen since the calm agreement between Israel and resistance factions in Gaza went into effect in November last year while many boats were confiscated or blasted at sea. (T/P012/E1)
