ISRAEL ARRESTS 21 HAMAS MEMBERS

        Ramallah, 24 Rabiul Awwal 1434 H/5 February 2013 (MINA) – Israel Occupation Forces soldiers have arrested 21 Hamas members in the West Bank early Monday (4/2), according to Xinhua reports monitored by Mi’raj News Agecy(MINA), Tuesday.

     Three of them are lawmakers. A well-informed Palestinian sources said They were caught during pre-dawn raids while the Israeli military said more arrests are underway.

       Among those detained are Adnan Asfour, from Nablus, Omar Aljabarini of the Balata refugee camp, Dr. Zinedine Shabana from Hebron and Palestinian Legislative Council member Ahmed Atoun from Jerusalem, whom Israel had arrested for several months and released on condition he stay out of Ramallah.

       Hurriyat, chief of Center for Prisoners Right in a Setlement said Most of the arrests were taken place in Nablus city Nablus, Tul Karm, Hebron, Qalqilyah, Bethlehem and Ramallah targeting nine senior members of the Hamas

Meanwhile, a Israeli military spokeswoman said that 25 Palestinians more were wanted for questioning by security forces were arrested, the majority of them are Hamas sympathizers.

      Among the lawmakers, the two of them are the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) which were seized in their homes in Hebron city and the third was arrested in the central city of Ramallah.

      The Israeli occupation forces also stormed two Hamas-run charities in Tulkarem and Hebron and confiscated computers and documents.

      A senior Israeli officer in the army’s Central Command as saying that other  activists will be arrested in the near future due to their involvement in a recent spike in public disorder and violent incidents in the West Bank.

      Hamas leaders primarily are based in Gaza. But the group has 74 members in the 132-seat Palestinian Authority legislature, which is headquartered in the West Bank city of Ramallah. (T/P04/E1)
