INDONESIAN ULEMA COUNCIL CONDEMNS EGYPT MILITARY ARMY

       Jakarta, 7 Shawwal 2013 / 14 August 2013 (MINA) – Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has strongly condemned the massacres committed by Egyptian military against supporters of ousted Egyptian President Muhammad Morsi.

      “World society must not remain silent with the situation for the survival of humanity in Egypt,” said the MUI Chairman, Dr. Anwar Abbas, in Jakarta, Wednesday (14/8), quoted by Mi’raj News Agency from official website of MUI.

     “World society particularly the United Nations should condemn this violent crackdown on protesters in Egypt, it should also take firm action against the perpetrators of the violence in Egypt,” he said.

      “This is the violence against human rights and the doer must be punished through the International Court. The international community must not remain silent and must act quickly,” he added.

      “The brutality of the Egyptian military against protesters is uncivilized and inhuman,” said Anwar.

       The differences in political attitudes should be resolved peacefully through dialogue that upholds human values, he explained.

      “It must not be solved with violence, especially with so many victims. Government of Indonesia, as the largest Muslim country should take an active role in efforts to stop and resolve the conflict that is hightening in Egypt.

       “Indonesia should be able to stop the political conflict in Egypt so as not to drag Egypt into the arena of civil war,” he said.

       Meanwhile, the member states of the European Union (EU) simultaneously condemned the Egyptian military army which slaughtered supporters of deposed Egyptian president, Muhammad Mursi.

       EU Foreign Ministry, Cathrine Ashton said that Egypt has made all international community apprehensive. Negotiators from all political factions in Egypt after the fall of the Mursi and the government wants the military to stop acting arbitrarily.

      Ashton claimed she is now monitoring the number of victims from international media after recent military action this time.(T/P05/E1)
