INDONESIAN MUSLIMAH ACTIVIST: MUSLIMS CAN MINIMIZE LIBERAL MOVEMENT

Jakarta,  8 Rabi’ul Awwal 1436/30 December 2014 (MINA) – The member of Indinesia Regional Representative Council (DPD), Fahira Fahmi Idris said, Muslims can minimize the liberal movement by taking part in the legislative sphere such as be member of parliament (MP).

“ If many Muslims become members of  DPD board, it will give more opportunity for Muslims to create peace,” she told Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA)’s reporter at his office in Jakarta, Monday.

“Muslims have to brave to be a  member of parliament because our role are very important in creating the rule,” she said.

Although only a few months she was inaugurated being MP, she has made a lot of positive advance in her leadership. She currently focuses on fighting against the circulation of liquor (alcoholic drink).

“I have been focusing in fighting against alcoholic drink for latest three years. I hope I can keep the next generation from the danger of alcoholic drink,” she said.

According to her, alcoholic drink has killed many Indonesian people. It also has robbed the young generation who became the nation’s future.

Fahira who is the chairman of the National Anti-Alcohol Movement (GeNAM) is also active in responding to public complaints in all respects, including violence against children and women.

Recently, the mother of two children has made an appeal letter for forcing Muslims not to wearing Christmas attributes and has made regional regulations about anti-alcohol in some regions. (L/P009/R03)
