Indonesian MP Condemns Al-Quds Closure by Israel

Jakarta, MINA – Indonesian member of House of Representative(DPR RI) Rofi Munawar criticized the Israeli’s action to ban Palestinian Muslims from praying at the al-Aqsa Mosque complex. Especially in recent weeks, they has banned two officials of the Islamic Waqaf Council in al-Quds from entering the al-Aqsa Mosque.

“Israel continues to try to limit the access of Muslims to worship at the al-Aqsa Mosque, it is not infrequently the reasons that used as a fabricating and unclear basis. Of course, this attitude is contrary to a number of agreements and rules that have existed so far,” said Rofi Munawar received by Sindonews, Jakarta, Thursday.

This member of Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) explained that the entire Al-Aqsa complex actually belongs to Palestinian Muslims.

Moreover, two resolutions from the humanitarian agency of the United Nations (UN) UNESCO increasingly clarify the situation. First, in April 2016 UNESCO once issued a resolution if Israel carried out illegal aggression and committed acts against the freedom for Muslims to be able to worship at the al-Aqsa Mosque. Second, in the same year, UNESCO has decided the Al-Aqsa Mosque as a holy site as well as a place of worship for Muslims.

“All forms of prohibition against Al-Aqsa will only have a negative impact on peace in the Middle East, considering that the holy mosque is one of the most sacred places for Muslims in the entire world,” said Rofi.

He also gave an additional explanation, throughout 2019 the Israeli occupation army banned Muslims and Palestinians from entering al-Aqsa, as the Israeli Authority banned 133 Palestinians from entering al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem in February. Previously they also banned 7 Palestinian women from entering al-Quds. Ironically, it allows dozens of Zionist settlers to enter the al-Aqsa Mosque complex.

“The more restricted it is to enter the al-Aqsa complex, the more difficult it will be for Israel itself. Evidently, what they have done is ineffective and frustrates them,” concluded Rofi. (T/Sj/P2)
