Indonesian Coffee Receives in Russian Market

Moscow, MINA – The success of Bali Hai and Torabika products in Russian market is likely to be immediately followed by Kapal Api products and other products from Indonesia.

This was stated by the Indonesian Ambassador to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus M. Wahid Supriyadi while reviewing the 26th exhibition of food products, “ProdExpo” food ingredients in Moscow on Monday.

“Looking at the success of the two products, I believe the other food products from Indonesia are very potential to enter the Russian market. On 24-26 April 2019 the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow will also facilitate entrepreneurs of halal products and Muslim clothing in Indonesia at the 11th International Economic Summit ‘Russia-Islamic World: Kazan Summit 2019’ event in Kazan, Tatarstan, where the majority of the population is Muslim, “Ambassador Wahid said.

The ProdExpo is one of the largest annual exhibitions in Russia and Eastern Europe, this time was attended by 2,442 participants from 69 countries including Indonesia, the event took place from 11 to 15 February 2019.

Three Indonesian companies participated in the exhibition, namely PT Kapal Api through EuroTrade as its distributor in Russia, PT Sasa Inti, and PT Indofood.

Although the new PT Kapal Api product entered the Russian market in 2017, it was noted that in 2018 the company was able to export 54 containers of instant coffee products “Good Day”. In 2019, PT Kapal Api targets to be able to export 100 containers.

Hadi Santoso, Marketing Director of PT Sasa Inti, which manufactures have various kinds of sambal, coconut milk, instant spices, said that his participation in the exhibition was for testing the market.

He was very grateful to the Indonesian Embassy for facilitating a pavilion at the exhibition which is one of the largest in Eastern Europe.

Meanwhile, the presence of PT Indofood at the exhibition was the first time even though one of its products had entered the Russian market, namely Pop Mie Indomie Goreng. The company is optimistic that other product variants are also expected to be accepted by the Russian market.

When meeting with the three Indonesian companies, Ambassador Wahid conveyed the need to synergize market penetration in Russia and the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow was ready to become an active part of efforts to increase national exports.

Ambassador Wahid also invited the Indonesian companies present to participate in the event held by the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow, both in Kazan and at the 4th Indonesia Festival in Moscow on 1-4 August 2019. (TR/Sj/R04)
