INDONESIA SHOULD HAVE WORLD CLASS LEVEL IN ISLAMIC UNIVERSITIES

Jakarta, 3 Shafar 1436/26 November 2014 (MINA) – The Director of Islamic Higher Education (PTI) Ministry of Religious Affairs, Dede Rosyada said his authority tried to realize the  Islamic universities into a world-class  level.

He stated his authority would improve academic services, infrastructure, and world-class research.

The Rector of Syarif Hidayatullah university, 2015-2019 period added, nowadays, PTI began to provide scholarships for foreign students.

“The Ministry of Religious Affairs provides scholarships for foreign students who want to continue their study in Indonesia, “said Dede Rosyada when closing the ” International Conference on Quality Islamic Higher Education “at , Jakarta, Tuesday night.

He added, his authority is focusing on preparing human resources by improving education for the professors. The lecturers would get scholarships for doctoral degree and joining international conferences and research.

Dede Rosyada also explained, There are 55 State universities and 631 private one under the Ministry of Religious Affairs through the Directorate of Islamic Higher Education (PTI) spreading in 34 Provinces.

The number of lecturersare 42, 469 people with 19, 901 are the civil servants and 22, 595 others are non-civil servants. While the number of students are 708 685.

State Islamic University (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta and UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang collaborated to initiate the International Conference on Quality Islamic Higher Education. The event was also attaended by foreign speakers from Bahrain, Morocco, and the Netherlands. (L / P009/R03)
