INDONESIA PRESIDENT SBY TO TALK ABOUT GAZA WITH OBAMA

Jakarta, 19 Ramadan 1435/17 July, 2014 (MINA)- Indonesia President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) has planned to discuss with the U.S. President Barack Obamaabout to stop Israeli occupation agression to Gaza.

“Just a half hour ago I have spoken with the UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon. Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa is managing a time for me to speak with the U.S. President Barack Obama,” said SBY in commemoration of Nuzulul Quran in National Palace, Wednesday night.

SBY revealed that Indonesia previously had contacted with the President of Iran Hassan Rouhani via telephone on July 11 talking about Gaza conflict. Antaranews quoting by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

“Alhamdulillah, President Rouhani strongly agreed with Indonesia’s position towards peace and security in Gaza .,” He said. They talked in capacity as a chairman of Non-Aligned Movement countries.

SBY also said, Indonesia had taken diplomatic steps through various forums, both Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and United Nations (UN).

In the UN forum, Indonesia had raised cooperation with various countries so that Emergency Forum of UN Security Council established on July 12, 2014.

“The session decided to urge both parties to achieve ceasefire,” he said.

SBY also had heard news from various of international media relating Egypt efforts proposing cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

He prayed that both parties (Israel and Hamas) could accept the proposal in order to stop violence in Gaza could be terminated immediately.

“I really want world leaders have same spirit and commitment stopping violance in Palestine. So, the peace talks for independence of Palestine can be continued,” he said. (T/Syt/P04).
