Indonesian President Joko Widodo has assured the visiting delegation of Afghanistan High Peace Council (HPC) to support Afghan peace and reconciliation process, ariananews.af reported Thursday.

Mr. Widodo has told Afghan delegation that his country will held a meeting on Afghanistan peace which will be attended by religious scholars of Islamic countries.

In the meeting, the delegation of HPC has said that issue of Afghanistan is political and not military, adding that Jakarta could play its part to resolve the ongoing challenges in the country.

Some Afghan political analysts, however, believe the meeting will not be impactful as the Taliban considered to be ignored from the meeting. “In order to reach for substantial outcomes in peace process, directs talks should be held with the Taliban,” said Nazar Mohmmad Mutmayen, a political analyst.
