Jakarta, MINA – The Indonesian government has declared a three-day period of national mourning to honor the passing of the 6th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Try Sutrisno. The national mourning period will run from March 2 to 4, 2026.
During this period, all central and regional government agencies, BUMN and BUMD, and the public are urged to fly the Indonesian flag at half-mast throughout Indonesia. This regulation also applies to Indonesian representative offices abroad.
The policy was announced through an official letter from the Minister of State Secretary addressed to the heads of state institutions, ministers within the Red and White Cabinet, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), regional governments, and heads of state-owned and regional enterprises.
Try Sutrisno passed away on Monday at 6:58 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) at the Gatot Soebroto Army Central Hospital in Jakarta at the age of 90. The declaration of this National Mourning Day is a form of state respect for his service and dedication to the nation and state during his tenure. []
