Ankara, 21 Rabi’ul Awwal 1437/1 January 2016 (MINA) – Heavy snow across Turkey caused the closure of schools in more than a third of Turkey’s 81 provinces on Thursday, local officials said.

Authorities in 32 provinces, mostly in northern Turkey but also extending into central Anatolia, said schools had been shut and roads affected, Anadolu Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporing.

Turkish Airlines announced that more than 200 flights from Istanbul’s Ataturk and Sabiha Gokcen airports had been cancelled due to the bad weather. (T/P010/R03)
