HAMAS CONDEMNS LIBERMAN’S DEFILEMENT OF IBRAHIM MOSQUE

       West Bank, 5 Rabiul Awwal 1434/16 January 2013 (MINA) – Hamas Movement strongly denounced the desecration of the Ibrahimi Mosque on Monday by former Israeli deputy premier and far-right figure Avigdor Lieberman.

       Describing him as a terrorist and a racist in a press release, Hamas said that the Israeli regime’s attempts to create a new fait accompli at the Aqsa Mosque would not succeed in changing its Islamic identity.

       Hamas added that Al-Khalil city and its Mosque would remain steadfast in the face of Israel’s Judaization schemes, according to a report from International Quran News Agency (IQNA) monitored by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA).

       It called on the organization of Islamic cooperation to assume its responsibility for protecting the Islamic holy sites in Al-Khalil city against Judaization.

       Lieberman decided on Monday to pay a provocative visit to the Ibrahimi Mosque where he performed Jewish rituals and defiled its sanctity.

       He also visited four illegal Israeli outposts where 400 extremist Jewish settlers are living.

       Lieberman’s visit was part of his ongoing support for the racist Jewish group called Kahane movement who transformed the four outposts in Al-Khalil city into one big settlement from which they launch their daily racist attacks on the Palestinian natives of the city.

      The Jewish settlers in the old city of Al-Khalil depend on financial support from the Israeli government and extremist Jewish societies outside Palestine.

       For its part, the Palestinian resistance committees slammed the visit as provocative and intended to achieve electoral gains and challenge the feelings of Muslims.

       It stressed the persistent Jewish break-ins against the Islamic holy sites, and all incidents that had happened before including the arson attacks on Mosques and the writing of racist slurs on its walls confirm undoubtedly that the racist nature of Zionists and called on Muslims around the world to protect their holy places in Palestine.
