GAZA WELCOMES UN INVESTIGATION INTO ISRAELI DRONE ATTACKS

Gaza City, 18 Rabiul Awal 1434/30 January 2013 (MINA) – The Palestinian Ministry of Justice in Gaza has welcomed the United Nations decision to open an investigation into the use of drones by the Israeli occupation forces and other countries in so-called targeted assassinations.

As it is believed that such operations amount to murder, that would require the prosecution and trial of Israeli leaders as war criminals, the ministry insists, according to a report published in www.middleeastmonitor.com monitored by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA), Wednesday.

A ministry statement claimed that “hundreds” of Palestinians have been killed by Israeli drone attacks in Gaza alone. It is calling for the International Criminal Court and UN General Assembly to take legal action against the Israelis, citing the threat to international peace and security.
