Jakarta, MINA – A humanitarian ship named “Farizal Ramadhon” will be part of the Global Sumud Flotilla fleet preparing to sail to break the blockade of the Gaza Strip.
Maimon Herawati, Coordinator of the Steering Board of the Global Peace Convoy Indonesia (GPCI), said the ship was purchased through joint fundraising by Indonesian citizens.
The naming of the ship serves as a symbol of honor for the struggle and humanitarian solidarity continuously championed by people from various countries.
Global Peace Convoy Indonesia (GPCI) stated that the ship is one of the fleet being prepared for an international humanitarian mission to Gaza.
This fleet will join approximately 100 ships from various countries in the Global Sumud Flotilla movement, which is planned to sail from Barcelona, Spain.
The naming of the ship “Farizal Ramadhon” is described as a tribute to a fallen soldier. The name was immortalized as a symbol of sacrifice and humanitarian values, which are expected to inspire volunteers involved in the mission.
The Global Sumud Flotilla mission itself is an international solidarity movement involving activists, volunteers, and humanitarian organizations from various countries.
They are working to open humanitarian access to Gaza, which continues to suffer from blockade and limited aid distribution.

In addition to the “Farizal Ramadhon” ship, Indonesia is also reported to be preparing another ship named after a national historical figure as part of its contribution to the humanitarian fleet. All ships will move in coordinated fashion with a broader international network in this mission.
The participation of civilian fleets in such missions demonstrates the growing moral pressure from the international community regarding the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Nevertheless, the mission is also expected to face significant challenges given the ongoing volatile security situation in the Mediterranean Sea region. []
