FAMILY BANNED FROM VISITING PALESTINIAN PRISONER FOR 12 YEARS

        Jenin, 7 Sha’ban 1434/17 June 2013 (MINA) – The family of Palestinian prisoner Mohammed Fuqaha appealed to the Red Cross to pressure the Israeli prison service into allowing them to visit him.

        Ghufran Fuqaha, his sister, told the Palestinian prisoner’s society on Sunday that she was the only one of their family to live in Palestine and the rest live outside. She added that she and her family members were not allowed to visit him since his detention in 2001, Palestinian Information Center reported as monitored by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA).

        She pointed out that her brother was transferred from one prison to another over the past 12 years and no visits were allowed all that period.

        Around one third of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails are deprived of family visits due to various security pretexts imposed by the Israeli intelligence.

        Meanwhile, another Israeli violation acts to the Palestinian prisoner are neglecting their urgent medical treat.

        The health condition of a number of Palestinian prisoners in Ramon jail has been worsening with no appropriate medical care accorded to them.

        The Palestinian prisoner’s society said in a statement on Sunday that the sick detainee Mohammed Al-Sharha from Al-Khalil was threatening to go on hunger strike if the prison authority did not divulge the kind of tumor he was suffering.

        Sharha, who is serving a 22-year sentence, told his lawyer that he gave the prison authority till 1st of July to transfer him to hospital for proper treatment or else he would go on hunger strike.

        Meanwhile, another lawyer for the association visited each of Jawad Abu Qare and Ali Balu. She said that Abu Qare was suffering severe dental inflammation that cost him almost all of his teeth in addition to repeated fainting.

        She said that Balu was suffering acute stomach pain since 2004 that increased due to medical neglect and led to seizures as a result of the severe pain.(T/P03/E1)
