EGYPT NOT ALLOWED 114 INDONESIAN VOLUNTEERS TO ENTER GAZA

Cairo, 18 Dzulqa’dah 1435/13 September 2014 (MINA) – Egyptian Government has not allowed  yet for 114 Indonesian volunteers who bring aid to enter Gaza Strip through Rafah border.

There was no sign that Egypt would open Rafah border permanently according to the agreement of Palestinian-Israel ceasefire, Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) correspondent in Gaza reported on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a letter to Indonesian embassy  number 1430 dated 8 September 2014, said that They could not give permission for Indonesian volunteers to pass through the Rafah border until now.

“It is because the unstable conditions in the Gaza Strip,” Egyptian diplomatic note explained.

They answered the letter of Indonesian Embassy number 429/8/2014 dated August 28, 2014 about the application of non-governmental organizations consisting of 114 Indonesian volunteers from 7 organizations and 3 journalists to enter the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border.

“The volunteers to deliver humanitarian aid from Indonesian people for the Palestinian people in Gza,” the note explained.

The Egyptian government gave high appreciation to the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo. The government still provides opportunities for the volunteers in the future if it is possible.

“We announced that the humanitarian agencies should complete their list of aids immediately. The list should along with the count and specification . ” If it has clear, we can follow up it appropriately,” said Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

Agus Hidayatullah, the staff of Indonesian embassy told Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) correspondent, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy in Cairo continued to strive informally and formally (by letter, memorandum) to bring the aids into Gaza.

“We regret that the Government of Egypt have not opened the Rafah border yet,” said Agus. (L/K01/P009/R03).
