Bambang Sudibyo Elected As Secretary General of the World Zakat Forum for 2017-2020 Period

Jakarta, 17 Jumadil Akhir 1438/16 March 2017 (MINA) – Prof. Dr. H. Sudibyo, MBA has been elected as the Secretary General of World Zakat Forum (WZF) for  2017 to 2020 period, replacing the previous secretary general Ahmad Juwaini who served from 2014 to 2017.

The new Secretary General elected officially in World Zakat Forum 2017 confab held at the Hotel Sari Pan Pacific Jakarta which was attended by participants from 18 countries since Wednesday (15/3) afternoon and ended on Thursday (16/3).

According to Ahmad, there are several reasons for Bambang Sudibyo to be chosen as general secretary, one of the reason that he had served as finance minister and minister of national education, so of course, he has a very extensive network.

“Bambang is  man of having capabilities since he has assumed  two cabinet ministerial posts, well-known personality with a wide network ” Ahmad Juwaini told Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) here  Thursday (16/3).

Meanwhile, Bambang Sudibyo expressed gratitude to Ahmad Juwaini for representing Indonesia for three years in an elegant way and commendable.

He assessed that Indonesia needs to learn a lot from Malaysia and also other countries, because the management of zakat in the countries have been well advanced and successful. “We need to improve the zakat management,” said Bambang, who also serves as Chairman of the National Zakat Agency (Baznas).

Another figures appointed on the WZF board  are Tuan Haji Moh Rais Haji Alias, Saleh Ali Alwaji, Elnur Salihovic, Abdeslam Ballaji, Muhammad Lawal Maidoki, Shaikh Abdurraziq Mukhtar, and Assoc Prof Isharaf Hossain.(L/R04/RS5)
