ARAB-ISRAELI ISLAMIC LEADER SENTENCED TO EIGHT MONTHS

Gaza City, 4 Jumadil Awal 1435/5 March 2014 (MINA) – An Israeli occupation court on Tuesday sentenced Islamic leader Sheikh Raed Salah to eight months in prison for allegedly “inciting Muslims to violence over Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa mosque”, AFP reported.

In addition to the eight-month sentence, Salah will serve a further eight months if he repeats the same ‘felony’ within three years, the news agency said.

Salah, who was born in the northern Arab-Israeli city Umm al-Fahm in 1958, is no stranger to run-ins with the authorities, ALRAY, Palestinian Media Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

He is the leader of Islamic Movement inside the occupied 1948 territories, He was convicted in November of inciting “all Muslims and Arabs” in 2007 to “start an intifada (uprising) to support holy Jerusalem and the blessed Al-Aqsa mosque.”

Undercover Zionist forces kidnap Qassam affiliate

ALRAY also reported from Hebron that undercover Israeli occupation forces has kidnapped on Tuesday evening a Hamas armed wing fighter from the University neighborhood of Hebron City, south of the occupied West Bank.

Safa Press reported that Ayoub al-Qawasmi, who is an Al-Qassam Brigades recruit, was released from a Palestinian Authority security service prison ten days ago after three yours in jail.

Qawasmi has been wanted by Israeli for 16 years. As the Israeli occupation failed to hunt him down since over a decade, PA forces managed to arrest him three years ago.

The PA released Qawasmi after he went on a hunger strike in protest against the continued administrative detention.

Under Oslo Accords, signed by Israel and PA in 1993, the later has cooperate with the Israeli army to set Palestinians affiliated to resistance factions in the occupied West Bank. (T/E01/IR)
