Another Halal Expo Kicks Off in Jakarta

Jakarta, MINA – Indonesian Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita opened the annual exhibition of the Indonesia Halal Expo (INDHEX) 2017 at SMESCO Exhibition Hall Jakarta, Thursday (16/11).

Enggartiasto said the government encourages the improvement of competitiveness of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with halal certification in order to enter the market and global product network

“The government will continue to push Indonesia’s halal products into the global market. This is supported by halal certification of Indonesia that has become a reference in many countries,” he said when delivering his opening remarks at the INDHEX 2017.

Attending the event were the Chairman of the MUI (Inonesian Ulema Council) KH Ma’ruf Amin, Director of the Institute for Food, Drugs and Cosmetics Assessment of LPPOM MUI Lukmanul Hakim and producers of halal products, manufacturers of SMEs, government agencies, relevant stakeholders.

He also asked the Indonesian Institute for Food, Drug and Cosmetics Assessment (LPPOM MUI) to create a special corridor of halal certification by facilitating UMKM entrepreneurs.

LPPOM MUI Director Lukmanul Hakim expects this event to improve the existence of Indonesia as a Halal Center of the World, while increasing awareness and role of stakeholders regarding halal products, increasing the potential and selling value of halal-certified products, and enhancing the competitiveness of halal-certified UKM products.

After the opening of the 7th INDHEX the event was followed by the announcement of the winner of Halal Award 2017 as an annual award given to stakeholders in halal field for their meritorious services in socialization, advocacy, and promotion on halal.

Subsequently, the award were presented to the winners of Halal Olympic 2017 which has been held since last July, with 13,524 participants coming from all provinces in Indonesia, as well as some countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan and Saudi Arabia.

Other forms of activities that will be held are silaturrahmi or get together meeting with the heads of halal-certified companies, in a panel discussion themed the continuation of the certification process after the enactment of Law on Halal Product Guarantee.

There will be present among othersm leaders of LPPOM MUI, Halal Product Security Assurance Agency (BPJPH), Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (Badan POM), and Indonesian Food and Beverage Entrepreneurs Association (GAPMMI).

Not only that, various seminars and training that can support the increased competitiveness of halal-certified products, as well as various competitions will be held, such as cooking competition, drawing and coloring competitions, as well as the demonstration of the use of beauty products supported by leading cosmetics manufacturer, Wardah.

INDHEX 2017, initiated by LPPOM MUI, as an international halal certification body, took place from 16-18 November 2017.

This series of activities at INDHEX this year with the theme “Enhancing Competitiveness of Indonesian Products through Halal Certification” in the form of 100 halal certified products exhibition, and various other events such as Halal Award 2017, awarding of Halal Olympic Games 2017, LPPOM MUI silaturrahmi with certified company leaders halal, talk shows, seminars, and various other activities. .(L/RE1/RS5)
