Gaza, MINA – Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor has accused Israel of transforming the Gaza Strip into the largest “ghetto” in modern history, trapping more than two million Palestinians inside it under a tight siege for nearly three years.
In a press release on Monday, Euro-Med said Israel has confined more than two million Palestinians to roughly one-third of the territory after devastating most of its cities and towns. The monitor added that Israel continues to enforce a comprehensive blockade and govern daily life through a systematic policy of killing, starvation, displacement, and deprivation of basic survival means as part of its ongoing genocide in the territory.
According to the press release, the area accessible to Palestinians in Gaza has shrunk to about 30 percent of the territory after Israeli-designated buffer zones and the so-called “yellow zone” expanded across large swaths of the enclave. It added that hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are now crowded into displacement camps lacking even the most basic living conditions.
Euro-Med reported that severe Israeli restrictions on food, fuel, and water have resulted in the deaths of 460 Palestinians, including 164 children. It warned that an additional 20,000 sick and wounded civilians face a slow death amid destroyed medical infrastructure and closed border crossings.

The monitor said Israeli attacks have also triggered a major demographic crisis in Gaza, leaving an estimated 60,000 children orphaned and 26,370 women widowed, many of them without financial support or social protection.
Euro-Med urged the international community to pressure Israel to reopen Gaza’s border crossings, lift its blockade, and allow the uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid and the urgent medical evacuation of the sick and wounded. It also called on all countries to impose an arms embargo on Israel and support the International Criminal Court’s efforts to issue arrest warrants for Israeli leaders.[]
