Gaza, MINA – Israeli War Minister Israel Katz has ordered the comprehensive closure of crossings in the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip for two days, the Palestinian Information Center reports.
The general closures are scheduled for October 5 and October 7, coinciding with the anniversary of the October 7 cross-border operation, “al-Aqsa Flood.” The closure will take effect during these two days following a security assessment and a decision by Katz, according to the minister’s office on Sunday.
However, this decision does not affect Israelis using West Bank checkpoints, the minister’s office said. During this period, humanitarian aid will not enter Gaza while crossings are closed.
For decades, Israel’s military checkpoints and road barriers set up across the occupied West Bank have become a significant source of suffering for Palestinians.

They disrupt daily life, causing delays for people trying to reach farmland, work, schools, and universities, while also posing a daily threat to the lives of the sick.
The Israeli occupation regime periodically imposes closures on the West Bank for various reasons, including Jewish holidays. While extremist Jewish settlers move freely between West Bank cities and areas, and even storm Palestinian villages and towns under military protection, Palestinians are forced to wait for hours at crossings and checkpoints.
Israeli closures also effectively fragment Palestinian communities, making Palestinians’ movement and travel between their areas dependent on whether roads and crossings are open.[]
