Gaza, MINA – Israel escalated its assault on Gaza City on Wednesday, flattening residential towers and bombarding crowded neighborhoods, as Tel Aviv pressed ahead with its offensive to seize full control of the city, Anadolu Agency reported.
Explosions echoed across the densely populated urban center of more than 1.2 million people. Witnesses reported that the strikes were concentrated in western Gaza City, where hundreds of thousands of displaced families from the north and east have sought refuge.
One of the attacks destroyed the Tayba 2 tower, a seven-story residential building that housed hundreds of residents and was located next to displacement camps. Medics confirmed that two Palestinians were killed, several others wounded, and thousands left without shelter after the strike.
The Tayba 2 tower was the seventh high-rise demolished in Gaza City since Friday. Residents say the methodical destruction of apartment blocks is aimed at making the city uninhabitable and forcing people to flee.

Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adraee urged civilians to evacuate immediately via al-Rashid Street toward al-Mawasi in southern Khan Younis, warning that remaining in Gaza City was extremely dangerous. He vowed expanded operations to eliminate Hamas.
Palestinian officials, however, accused Israel of carrying out a systematic displacement campaign. The Government Media Office said that more than 1.2 million people remain in Gaza City despite bombardment, charging that Israel is attempting to force 1.7 million Palestinians into the coastal areas of al-Mawasi and Rafah, which lack hospitals, infrastructure, and basic services.
Human Rights Watch has previously reported that Israel has destroyed nearly 90% of Gaza’s infrastructure since October 2023, leaving displaced families with no shelter other than schools and university buildings.
The bombardment is part of Israel’s latest ground offensive, Gideon’s Chariots 2, launched on Sept. 3 with the declared aim of occupying Gaza City. The operation has also drawn criticism within Israel, with concerns it could endanger soldiers and captives held inside the enclave.
