Prabowo Responds to May 22 Action, “Avoid Violence”

Jakarta, MINA -Indonesian Presidential Candidate Prabowo Subianto appealed to mass demonstration of action May 22 in front of Bawaslu to avoid violence.

“I appeal to all who want to listen to me, to avoid violence to anyone. Honor law enforcement, “he said at a press conference with Sandiaga Uno at the Kertanegara guesthouse, Jakarta, Wednesday.

In the statement, Prabowo also stated that he would take a constitutional path to alleged fraud that occurred in April 17 presidential election.

Prabowo also expressed his condolences over the deaths of six people and hundreds of others who were injured in a riot late Tuesday.

“The riots last night and early this morning have tarnished the Indonesian people in eyes of the world,” he said.

Meanwhile, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Rasyid Baswedan stressed that the entire Jakarta area until Wednesday afternoon, May 22, was in a calm and safe condition, except for two roads, namely Jl. MH Thamrin and KS Tubun in Tanah Abang.

“Actually, the areas in Jakarta are calm, safe, peaceful, only on at Jl.Thamrin, only in front of the Bawaslu office and Jl. KS Tubun in Tanah Abang,” Anies said in an interview Wednesday afternoon.
