WHATSAPP SITE HACKED BY PRO-PALESTINIAN ACTIVISTS

     Tel Aviv, 4 Dhul Hijja 1434/9 October 2013 (MINA) – The official website of the popular Israeli-developed mobile messaging application WhatsApp was apparently hacked Tuesday by pro-Palestinian activists.

     A group called KDMS Team took responsibility for the attack. Hackers posting anti-Israel messages in site’s homepage, Times of Israel quoted by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

     Internet users who wished to access the site were redirected to a different page that presented claims Palestinian land had been stolen by “Zionists.”

     The messages also demanded that Israel free all Palestinian prisoners, and said that the Palestinians “deserve to liberate their land.”

     The WhatsApp site was later shut down and was unavailable for user access.

      A report on CNET said it wasn’t yet clear whether there had been any disruptions to WhatsApp’s customer data or services.

      Hacking Israeli websites repeated in the last period when thousands of  pro-Palestinians hackers from different countries had managed to break into several Israeli important websites including security, military, and social communication websites for four consecutive days.

      June month ago the information technology sector and computer systems in Israel were heavily damaged due to cyber attacks by international activists supporting the Palestinian cause.

      Reports issued by Magellan Group companies specialized in information systems indicated they lost $ 200 m as a result of hackers’ attacks that damaged several Israeli websites and uncovered their secrets, according to Globes website specialized in the Israeli economic news.    

      April 7, hackers have launched massive cyber attacks against Israeli websites, vowing to wipe the Jewish state off internet map.

      Dubbed  OpIsrael, hackers attacked Israeli websites in solidarity with the Palestinian people against Israeli practices in the occupied lands.

      The attack has left dozens of Israeli website down as of early Sunday, April 7, The attacks came in a second wave by hacking group Anonymous and similar collectives on Israeli sites.

      Sites serving government agencies, including the Israel Securities Authority, the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption and the Central Bureau of Statistics were said to have been brought down, according to a list posted on hackersnewsbulletin.com.

       Some 19,000 Israeli Facebook accounts were said to have been hacked as well, although a list to that effect has yet to be released. (T/P09/E1).
