Ankara, MINA – Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has issued a stern warning to the United States against launching a military strike on Iran, urging both Washington and Tehran to resolve their escalating disputes through diplomatic channels.
In an interview with Al Jazeera on Wednesday, Fidan called for regional cooperation as the US continues to deploy significant military assets to the Middle East.
Amid the rising friction, Fidan was blunt in his assessment of further conflict, stating, “It would be a mistake to start another war.”
Despite the intensified rhetoric from both sides, the Foreign Minister underscored that a diplomatic resolution remains within reach, noting that “Iran is ready to return to negotiations on the nuclear issue.”

Fidan advised US officials to adopt a gradual approach to their grievances with Tehran rather than seeking an all-encompassing deal immediately.
“My advice to our American friends is to resolve issues with Iran one by one,” he said. “Start with the nuclear issue, resolve it, and then move to the others. If you try to solve everything at once, it will be extremely difficult for our Iranian friends to actually process it.”
Furthermore, Fidan suggested that while Iran could hold a “perfect position” within the regional order, it must prioritize building trust with its neighbors.
He emphasized that regional stability depends on mutual confidence, remarking that Iran needs to be mindful of how it is perceived by nearby nations.

“They are not going anywhere, and neither are we,” Fidan noted, stressing that despite ideological differences, regional powers must find a way to coexist and collaborate within the modern nation-state system.[]
