Minneapolis, MINA – Thousands of demonstrators gathered in downtown Minneapolis on Friday to demand that the Trump administration end its deployment of thousands of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to the Twin Cities, Anadolu Agency reported.
Protesters expressed deep anger and a sense of betrayal, rejecting claims that the deployment is solely about immigration enforcement. Many argued it is instead a show of power aimed at intimidating immigrant communities.
Residents described raids and arrests as terror tactics, accusing federal agents of abusing authority, detaining the wrong people, and spreading fear across neighborhoods. Demonstrators said communities are being targeted and traumatized rather than protected.
Tensions have escalated following the fatal shootings of two demonstrators, Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, and Alex Pretti, an intensive care unit nurse, both killed by federal officers during separate protests this month. Their deaths have intensified public outrage and opposition to ICE operations in Minnesota.

While the Trump administration has framed the immigration crackdown as a public safety measure, witnesses, video footage, and medical accounts have challenged official narratives, particularly regarding Pretti’s death, which critics say involved excessive force.
Protests against ICE raids and federal shootings have continued across Minnesota for more than a month, with Friday’s demonstration marking one of the largest mobilizations to date.
Protesters called for accountability, an end to federal immigration deployments, and respect for community safety and human rights.[]
