Medan, MINA – The Governor of North Sumatera Indonesia Edy Rahmayadi has asked Silaturrahmi (get-together) participants and Discussions of the university chancellors to immediately stop the event and leave the room to  go praying if the call of prayer (azan) was already echoing.

He is willing to be unpopular if the order is considered too strict.

“I dare not be popular, if I hear azan, I order to stop all activities and immediately go to the mosque to perform praying,” he said when opening a gathering and discussion of the chancellors of North Sumatra’s state and private universities in Medan, Wednesday (3/10).

On that occasion, he asked all universities in North Sumatra to contribute to the progress of the province that he currently leads. According to him, all the results of student research in North Sumatra must be supported for the progress of the area.
