SENIOR HAMAS AND FATAH FIGURES DISCUSS RECONCILIATION IN CAIRO

Cairo, 2 Jumadil Awwal 1435/4 March 2014 (MINA) – A senior Hamas leader living in Egypt Mousa Abu-Marzouq met the head of Fatah parliamentarian bloc Azzam Al-Ahmad in Cairo on Sunday to discuss several issues especially national reconciliation, a Palestinian security source revealed.

“Al-Ahmad met with Abu-Marzouq in his house in Cairo away from mass media,” the source said, Middle East Monitor (MEMO) reported as quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA), Monday (3/3).

According to the source, internal reconciliation was one of the most important issues. “Both sides agreed to support national dialogue and pave the way ahead of national reconciliation,” the source said.

The source said national dialogue would witness a “positive” change in the coming few days. A potential visit to Al-Ahmad to the Gaza Strip is also expected to be announced.

Al-Ahmad is to attend the seventh gathering of Yasser Arafat Institution in the headquarters of the Arab League to discuss the issue of Arafat’s death.

He met several Egyptian officials and discussed the Palestinian-Israeli talks and the Palestinian internal reconciliation.

The reconciliation process have been the most  important issues that supported by Muslim countries around the world, including Indonesia and Malaysia. (T/P03/E01)
