The Russian president expressed his country's interest in reaching political and diplomatic solutions for "conflicts and crises with full respect for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of all states." MEMO PhotoMoscow, 27 Jumadil Awwal 1435/28 March 2014 (MINA) – Russian President Vladimir Putin has vowed that his country will continue “working for a fair and stable resolution of the Palestinian problem by means of creating an independent, viable, territorially integral Palestinian state that would co-exist in peace and security with its neighbours.”

In a message addressed to the participants of the 25th Arab League summit that opened in Kuwait on Tuesday, Putin stressed that a normalisation of the situation in the Middle East and North Africa region would lead to reaching a comprehensive and quick resolution to “long-standing regional conflicts”, including the Arab-Israeli one.

In his message, Putin also emphasised Russia’s readiness to cement a partnership with the Arab League in line with the decisions made during the first ministerial session of the Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum held in Moscow in February 2013, in which the ministers called for “the immediate lifting of the on-going inhumane blockade on the Gaza Strip and the release of all Palestinian and Arab prisoners and detainees in Israeli prisons,” as well as for Israel to regularly meet all of its financial obligations to the Palestinian Authority.
