Religious Leaders in Makassar Discussed Ways to co-Existence and Solidarity

Makassar, 28 Muharram 1438/29 Oktober 2016 (MINA) – The discussion in pursuit of peace based on the interfaith dialogue with the theme of co-existence and solidarity was held by religious representatives at St. Petrus Claver Seminary, Makassar, Indonesia on 27th of October.

For the purpose of religious harmonization and dedication to peacebuilding, leaders from Islam, Buddhism, Catholicism, Protestantism and Confucianism participated in this event at the World Alliance Religions’ Peace Office (WARP Office).

“As students are the future generation of Indonesia, it is meaningful for the students of St. Petrus Claver Seminary to participate in this discussion as audience. And I was interested in the topic which deals with practical ways for peace,” said Dr. Nurman Said Tahrim, Islam Lecturer of UIN Makassar, in a press release.

Considering the fact that the international community seeks to find human development in the face of challenges from wars and conflicts, the interfaith dialogue at the WARP Office sheds light on concrete, practical approaches to the development of peace through the role of religion in benefitting the society with the value of peace as a universal principle.

Organized by Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), an international NGO under the UN Department of Public Information, the WARP Office discusses the spirit of peace for humanity written in religious scriptures to step forward onto the road of world peace. Currently, 131 WARP offices in 92 countries have been founded around the world to find the solution to peace through interfaith dialogues based on religious scriptures, the collection of knowledge of human spirit.

International law for peace, religious harmony, civil participation and empowerment with women and youth at the center, education based on peace are the core initiatives of peacebuilding offered by HWPL. By gaining global support from civil society, governments and international organizations, HWPL emphasizes the role of each individual in development of peace in society with the spirit of peace.

The Legislate Peace Campaign has been the voice of support for peace by adding their signatures, which will be introduced to global institutions for international cooperation to establish peace as a norm of our globe. The movement for signature campaign continued in Medan, Indonesia at “Festival Merah Putih” on 28th October. (L/R05/R03)
