QATAR AND EGYPT WELCOME THE RECONCILIATION AGREEMENT
Gaza City, 24 Jumdil Akhir 1435/24 April 2014 (MINA) – Egypt and Qatar welcomed Wednesday evening the Palestinian national reconciliation agreement signed between Fatah and Hamas in which it put an end to the seven years of internal division.
Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nabil Fahmi asserted in a press release that his country will continue its historical and national support to the Palestinian people, ALRAY, Palestinian Media Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
He pointed out the Egyptian efforts to achieve the reconciliation between Palestinian factions that led to the signing of Cairo agreement three years ago.
Fahmi discussed with Azzam al-Ahmed ,who heads Fatah delegation ,the previous reconciliation agreements before he arrived to Gaza.
He hoped the agreement contributes in ending the Palestinian division and to support the Palestinian position in peace negotiations.
Qatari foreign minister Khaled al-Attiya congratulated PM Ismail Haniyeh and the Palestinian people on the national reconciliation.
Haniyeh on Wednesday announced the end of the Palestinian split and the schedules to implement the previous reconciliation agreements.(T/P02/E01)
