Beijing, MINA – Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping held high-level talks in Beijing on Wednesday, just days after Donald Trump visited China for a summit with the Chinese leader amid the ongoing US-Iran war, Anadolu Agency reports.
Putin was welcomed with an official ceremony outside the Great Hall of the People, where Xi personally greeted him before the two leaders entered bilateral discussions.
The meeting is expected to focus on strategic relations between Russia and China, including trade cooperation, energy ties, the Ukraine conflict, and developments surrounding the US-Iran war.
Putin arrived in Beijing with a large delegation that includes five deputy prime ministers, eight ministers, and several leading Russian business executives. Following the talks, both sides are expected to sign a joint statement and several cooperation agreements.

The Russian president is also scheduled to meet Chinese Premier Li Qiang to discuss economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
The visit coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation signed in 2001 by former Chinese President Jiang Zemin and Putin.
Putin and Xi are additionally expected to attend the opening ceremony of the Russia-China Years of Education 2026–2027 program before the Russian leader returns to Moscow.
This visit marks Putin’s 25th official trip to China, highlighting the deepening partnership between Beijing and Moscow. Bilateral trade between the two countries surpassed $240 billion in 2023, while China currently absorbs around half of Russia’s crude oil exports, according to recent estimates.[]
