PEACE PROCESS IN INDONESIA’S ACEH BE A MODEL OF WORLD CONFLICT RESOLUTION
Banda Aceh, 2 Shafar 1437/14 November 2015 (MINA) – Indonesia Aceh governor, Zaini Abdullah declared the peace on the “rencong” land could be a model of conflict resolution that occurs in some countries in the world.
“We want to show to the world that the Aceh peace process could be a model of conflict resolution that can be applied in conflict areas in the world,” said the Governor at the opening of the international conference 10 th years peace commemoration in Banda Aceh, Friday. Antaranews reported.
Abdullah said the peace in Aceh has been running for 10 years. Aceh Peace began with the memorandum of peace agreement which was signed in Helsinki, August 15, 2005.
A decade peace in Aceh, there are some progress that has been achieved. One of them is an optimistic attitude from the citizens to develop the province to be better and better.
“What is needed now is unity to boost the development in all sectors, so the peace could bring to the gate of the welfare,” said the governor.
Zaini Abdullah also said, the countries which are now suffering due to the civil war could imitate the process of how Aceh build resolution and peace.
“We hope that peace resolution in Aceh could be the best model in the world, as well as promoting peace to deliver maximum results for the development and welfare to the people,” he said.
The event was also attended by several ambassadors, EU envoy, member of Parliament and leaders of international organization, as well as top officials of Aceh Government. (TL/P008/R03)
