Gaza, MINA – Hamas has called on Palestinians in Occupied Jerusalem and areas within the Green Line to mobilize en masse and head to Al-Aqsa Mosque, urging them to maintain a constant presence at the holy site following its reopening after more than 40 days of Israeli closure, according to the Palestine Information Center.
In a statement issued Thursday, the Palestinian resistance movement declared that Friday should serve as a day to renew commitment and loyalty to Occupied Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, strengthen Palestinian presence, and protect the holy sanctuary.
Hamas urged the public to remain a “protective shield and a solid barrier” against Israeli attempts to seize exclusive control over the site and impose new Judaization realities.
“The Aqsa Mosque will remain at the center of the conflict and a trust carried by the Palestinian people and the wider Muslim nation,” the movement said, reaffirming its commitment to sacrifice everything necessary until the mosque is liberated and cleansed of occupation.

Separately, Haroun Nasser al-Din, a member of Hamas’s political bureau and head of its Jerusalem affairs office, warned that Israeli plans to link settlements in Occupied Jerusalem represent a serious escalation in efforts to impose new realities on the ground. He said these plans aim to fragment Occupied Jerusalem and isolate it from its surrounding Palestinian communities.
Al-Din explained that the ongoing confiscation of land in areas such as Abu Dis, al-Eizariya, and Khan al-Ahmar reflects a continued Israeli policy of displacement and spatial cleansing against Palestinians.
“These projects will not change the identity or history of Occupied Jerusalem, nor the Palestinian people’s established rights to it,” he stressed, asserting that all attempts to alter the city’s character will ultimately fail.
The Hamas official added that Palestinians will not stand idle in the face of these actions, calling for a comprehensive escalation of all forms of resistance and for unified national efforts to protect land and holy sites.

Israeli forces reopened Al-Aqsa Mosque early Thursday after a 40-day closure that was imposed citing security concerns during the Israeli-American military escalation against Iran. The reopening has been met with both relief and heightened vigilance among Palestinians, who fear that the closure was a pretext for advancing long-term Judaization plans.[]
