PALESTINE WELCOMES UN ARAB GROUP TO COMPLAIN AGAINST ZIONIST ATTACKS ON AL AQSA

RAMALLAH, 27 Rabiul Akhir 1435 / 27 February 2014 (MINA) – Palestinian Presidency welcomed on Wednesday a call by the UN Arab Group to file a complaint to the UN Security Council against the continuing Israeli attacks on al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

It expressed worries over repeated attacks and violations by either Israeli officials or extremists who seek to divide the mosque, the temporal and spatial partition of Al-Aqsa, which could lead to serious repercussions at all local, regional and international levels, WAFA, Palestinian News & Info Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Presidency called upon the Organization of the Islamic Conference and the League of Arab States to promptly take action to stop these violations, as last Tuesday witnessed one of the most violent attacks on the mosque where dozens were injured or bruised after police entered the yards and opened heavy gunfire.

Meanwhile, presidency added that while the US administration is trying to push the peace process forward, Israeli parliament, Knesset, is discussing a draft law which could undermine the US peace efforts, one that is typical of Israel’s policies that destroy the international treaties and conventions.

Presidency added that it will continue coordination and consultation with Jordan to discuss this aggression on the holy sites, worshipers and on the residents of Jerusalem in general.

It further warned such assaults do not only threaten the holy sites, but also create an atmosphere that would nurture hatred and violence and transforms the conflict into a critical religious one. (T/E01/IR)
