PAKISTAN TO HOLD FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS’ CONFERENCE ISLAMIC BANKING

Islamabad, 29  Dzulhijjah 1436/12 October 2015 (MINA) – National and international financial institutions have lauded initiative of Pakistan Observer to hold an international Round-table Conference on Islamic Banking and Finance  Potential of Muslim Ummah, next month in Pakistan.

Terming it a momentous conference aimed at creating awareness and sensitising the stakeholders and the people at large about such an important field having a great potential in developing finance on national and global scale, the high-profile finance managers said the RTC will go a long way in boosting this instrument, Pakistan Observer quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Commending this initiative of the daily, the Deputy Governor of State Bank of Pakistan, Saeed Ahmed, in his message said the State Bank had already participated in PO’s two Islamic banking-related round-table conferences held in January 2014 and March 2015, both of which were participated by President Mamnoon Hussain.

Appreciating this endeavour by Zahid Malik, Editor-in-Chief of the daily, he said his deep interest in this cause and other initiatives in this regard on wider scale will help create a conducive environment for the Islamic banking, the volume of which is steadily rising not only in the Muslim world but also in the non-Muslim states.

The State Bank will provide any guidance or facilitation where possible to make this event successful, he assured.

The Chairman of Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, Zafar Hijazi, in his message has commended the persistent efforts of Pakistan Observer in promoting Islamic Banking in Pakistan.

The role of seminars and conferences on the subject is essential for creating awareness and expansion of this field of great importance and relevance to all, he said adding Pakistan plays a valuable role in promoting Islamic finance on global scale and such events provide an opportunity to regulators, financial service players and legal professionals to collaborate and contribute in developing Islamic financial market.

He said due to excellent performance of Islamic banks, Pakistan ranked third in the Islamic finance at the Global Islamic Finance Awards held in Bahrain this month.

He hoped the deliberations during the forthcoming conference would be instrumental in enhancing the image of Islamic banking finance. (T/Imt/R04)
