OIC condemns terrorist attack in Jakarta

Jakarta, 7 Rabi’ul Akhir 1437/January 17, 2016 (MINA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has condemned the bomb attacks and series of shooting in the business district of Jakarta on Thursday, resulting in the death of seven people, and injuring 20 others.

OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani sent his heartfelt condolence to the families of the victims of the attack and his wishes for the fast recovery of the injured, the OIC said in a statement posted on its official website and quoted by Antara, Friday.

Madani said he condemned in strongest terms the perpetration of this heinous act committed against the peaceful community of Jakarta.

He expressed his confidence in the Indonesian Governments efforts in bringing to justice the people behind the tragedy.

The Secretary General restated the principled position of the OIC that vigorously denounces all acts of terrorism and violent extremism in all their forms and manifestations while it categorically rejects any justifications for terrorism. (T/P4/R03).
