Al-Quds, MINA – Hundreds of Muslim worshipers performed Sunday’s noon prayer near al-Asbat Gate, outside holy al-Aqsa Mosque, after they refused to enter the site via metal detectors set up by the Israeli forces, the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) reported.

Reporting from the scene, a PIC news correspondent said members of Jerusalem’s Awqaf Department and dozens of Muslim worshipers refused to enter al-Aqsa Mosque through the metal detectors installed by the Israeli occupation forces.

“Oh al-Aqsa! You are worth our souls and lives,” chanted the peaceful Muslim worshipers as they performed noon prayer in congregation.

On Friday (14/7), Israeli police closed off sections of the Old City, including blocking access to al-Aqsa compound.

Al-Aqsa’s guards are still detained since the morning hours, while Adhan (call to prayer) was not raised in the holy shrine, our news correspondent added.

Due to the Israeli ban, thousands of Palestinians performed Friday prayer at al-Aqsa’s gates and at military checkpoints erected throughout the city amid heavy presence of Israeli police forces.

The occupied city was turned into a military barracks which led to the outbreak of clashes. (T/R04/RS5)
