Jakarta, MINA – Deputy Chair of the MUI Advisory Council, KH Zainut Tauhid Sa’adi, has reaffirmed that the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has always stood firm in its support for Palestinian independence. He made this clear during the opening of the 8th Indonesian Muslim Congress (KUII VIII) at the Bidakara Hotel in Jakarta on Friday.
KH Zainut Tauhid added that MUI continues to pay close attention to global geopolitical and humanitarian developments.
“Above all, we remain consistent and steadfast in monitoring and supporting the struggle for Palestinian independence,” he said.
He emphasized that the Indonesian Muslim Congress, being the highest consultative body for Muslims in the country, carries significant historical importance in addressing key issues facing the Muslim community and the nation, particularly in promoting unity and national progress, as well as tackling global challenges.

The Head of the Steering Committee for KUII VIII, KH Marsudi Syuhud, reported that the congress would address various strategic matters concerning the Muslim community, the nation, and the state. It would also formulate recommendations for the government to help guide national development efforts.
“This congress continues to promote synergy and collaboration to strengthen all components of the Muslim community, the nation, and the state,” he said.
He also stressed the importance of strengthening both Islamic brotherhood and national unity across all sectors to preserve the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
Around 500 participants are attending KUII VIII, representing a wide range of groups, including: central MUI leadership, national-level Islamic mass organizations, provincial MUI branches from across Indonesia, Islamic boarding schools, universities, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, and Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

Also taking part are non-ministerial government institutions related to Islamic affairs, sharia economic institutions and associations, and Islamic philanthropic organizations.
Other attendees include national-level Islamic youth and student organizations, Islamic media institutions, and individual figures such as scholars, community leaders, and intellectuals.[]
