MUFTI OF JERUSALEM: AQSA MOSQUE SOLELY ISLAMIC AND COULD NOT BE DIVIDED

         Occupied Jerusalem, 19 Dzulhijjah 1434/25 October 2013 (MINA) – Sheikh Mohammed Hussein, the Mufti of Jerusalem and Palestinian territories, has denounced “Zionist feverish attempts” to divide the Aqsa Mosque temporally and spatially between Muslims and Jews.

         He said in a statement on Wednesday that the Aqsa Mosque would remain solely Islamic and would not be divided, ALQASSAM reported as monitored by (MINA) Mi’raj News Agency, Thursday (25/10)

         Sheikh Mohammed said that the Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) were continuing in their attempts to Judaize the Aqsa Mosque, pointing to the ceaseless excavations underneath it amidst absolute secrecy and media blackout.

         The IOA would not succeed to change the fact that the Aqsa Mosque, with all its yards, buildings and whatever was above or beneath its ground, was and would continue to be solely Islamic, the Mufti underlined.

         He appealed to all Palestinians capable of reaching the holy site to do so in order to defend it in face of conspiracies.

         The Mufti appealed to the world community to step in and pressure the IOA into halting its schemes of Judaizing and dividing the Aqsa Mosque and displacing occupied Jerusalem’s indigenous inhabitants.

           Sheikh Mohammed asked UNESCO to immediately intervene to save the holy city and to stand up to the Israeli war machine that was defacing the image of the occupied city and to adopt practical decisions to ward off the dangers engulfing the Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem.(T/P012/E1)
