MTQ NATIONAL FOR STUDENTS 14 th OFFICIALLY OPENED

Depok, 17 Shawwal 1436/2 August 2015 (MINA) – The 14th National Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran for Students (MTQMN) 2015 is to officially commenced at the Hall of the University of Indonesia (UI) campus in Depok, on Saturday (1/8) tonight.

UI rector, Muhammad Anis, said they were proud to open MTQMN biennial event. This is because the interest of students is very high in following the largest Quranic event in Indonesia. In fact, about 1,863 participants from 167 universities are scheduled to follow the event.

“As a university bearing the name of the nation, the UI is expected to bridge diversity with good morals,” Anis said in his speech.

“The spirit of voicing the Qur’an has served as the background for UI as the organizer of the 14th MTQMN,” he added.

MTQMN will take place from August 1 to 8 on the campus of UI Depok with 13 types of conpetitions. UI itself will deploy its 29 best students for the event.

Salman Amrillah, MTQMN 2013 quran recitations winner, participated in the opening of MTQMN 2015 by reciting verses of the Koran. The eightyh semester student of UNINUS said that he will join this year’s MTQMN with the same spirit as he had two years earlier.
