East Flores, MINA – A 4.7-magnitude earthquake that struck the East Flores and Lembata areas in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on Wednesday night caused damage to dozens of residents’ homes and resulted in injuries.
East Flores Regent, Antonius Doni Dihen, stated that the impact of the earthquake was felt quite significantly in two villages located on Adonara Island, namely Terong Village and Lamahala Village.
“In addition to damage to residents’ homes, there were also dozens of injured victims as a result of the incident,” Antonius said when confirmed on Thursday.
He explained that residents who were injured have now received medical treatment from local health workers. Meanwhile, teams from the regional government along with related personnel have been deployed to carry out data collection and emergency response in the affected locations.

The earthquake, which occurred at night, caused panic among residents, who rushed out of their homes to save themselves. A number of buildings were reported to have sustained light to moderate damage.
The regional government has urged the public to remain alert to the possibility of aftershocks and to follow directions from the authorities for collective safety.[]
