Amman, 25 Ramadan 1435/23 July 2014 (MINA) – The lower house of Jordan’s parliament has denounced the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians in the Israeli offensive against the Gaza Strip as “the most atrocious mass killing operation.”

The 150-member lower house said in a statement issued on Tuesday that Palestinians in the besieged sliver are facing “the atrocious mass killing operation by the brutal racist Israeli occupation, which is violating international laws.”

The MPs warned against the silence of the international community and its repercussions for Gaza which “is suffering from an ongoing humanitarian disaster,” Press TV quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting Wednesday.

“We demand the international community immediately intervene to stop the Israeli aggression and escalation against the unarmed Palestinian people,” the statement said.

Over the past 15 days, Israeli warplanes have been hitting numerous sites in the Gaza Strip, demolishing homes and burying families in the rubble. Israeli tanks also began a ground offensive against the impoverished Palestinian land on July 17.

More than 630 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed in Tel Aviv’s offensive so far.

Palestinian resistance fighters have also retaliated against the deadly Israeli attacks by firing a barrage of rockets deep into the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories.

Palestinian Ambassador to the United Nations Riyad Mansour has said Palestinians are held captive by Israel in an “open prison” called the Gaza Strip. (T/E01/IR)
