ISRAELI INTELLIGENCE AGENTS SEARCH FOR TUNNELS IN GAZA AFTER THE STORM

Gaza, 15 Shafar 1435/18 December 2013 (MINA) – The Israeli occupation army declared a state of alert in the vicinity of  Gaza Strip to detect tunnels that were flooded during the last storm, after it has deliberately opened dams to flood and destroy Gaza tunnels.

Al-Majd security website said on Tuesday that the Israeli intelligence ordered its agents in the areas drenched with water, to search for tunnels damaged by rain water, Palestinian Information Center reported as quoted by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA).

It pointed out that while everyone was busy with rescuing the stricken areas, the occupation intelligence services have been working secretly on searching for tunnels that extend from the Strip to the 1948 occupied territories.

An official report from the UN Humanitarian recently said that Israel is effectively destroying “all essential services, including hospitals, clinics, sewage and water pumping stations.”

Gaza has been blockaded since June 2007, a situation that has caused a decline in the standard of living, unprecedented levels of unemployment, and unrelenting poverty.

The apartheid regime of Israel denies about 1.7 million people in Gaza their basic rights, such as freedom of movement, jobs that pay proper wages, and adequate healthcare and education.

“It is time for the world to come together and put an end to the madness of Zionism, before the madness of Zionism puts the world in trouble,” UN statement said.

The Zionist regime of Israel has turned the besieged Gaza Strip into a big concentration camp by paralyzing life for residents, an analyst says.

“The Gaza Strip is the world’s most densely populated urban area. Some call it the world’s biggest concentration camp,” Kevin Barrett wrote in a column for Press TV on Wednesday.

“The Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip has crippled Gaza’s main power plant for more than a month – and it’s getting worse. The power outage has wrecked Gaza’s waste water treatment system and flooded the streets with raw sewage,” the commentator wrote.

Barrett said the Gaza Strip is close to “becoming an extermination camp” due to Israeli and Egyptian blockades of the enclave.

He said the “killing the Palestinians slowly by depriving them of essential services may not satisfy” the Zionist regime.

Israel’s blockade of Gaza has long been known for it’s cruel results in strangling the population. But two recent happenings – namely Egypt’s destruction of Gaza’s smuggling tunnels and Israel’s decision ratchet up the blockade by blocking construction materials – have made Gaza virtually “uninhabitable,” according to the UN.(T/P03/P04)
