Beirut, MINA – Israeli occupation forces renewed their attacks on southern Lebanon on Wednesday, with airstrikes and explosions targeting several towns, while Defense Minister Israel Katz declared that Israeli troops would not withdraw from what he described as “security zones” in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza.

In the Tyre district, Israeli warplanes struck the town of al-Mansouri in two separate attacks, reportedly targeting a Hezbollah operational apartment, according to Israeli media . A

n Israeli drone also dropped a stun grenade in the town, while residents had been warned earlier to evacuate .

Meanwhile, Lebanese media reported that Israeli forces blew up and destroyed the four-story Sheikh Naim Mahdi Public School building in central Zawtar al-Sharqiyah in the Nabatieh district .

The Lebanese army confirmed that Israeli forces also destroyed the town’s municipal building, public school, health clinic, nursery, and several homes . Additional explosions were reported in the towns of Haddatha and Beit Yahoun in the Bint Jbeil district .

The Lebanese army accused Israel of continuing its “destructive approach aimed at inflicting maximum damage on southern villages and towns,” stating that the attacks are hindering its full deployment and preventing residents from returning to their homes .

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam strongly condemned Israel’s actions, describing them as “systematic destruction” and a serious violation of international law and international humanitarian law .

“Claiming that villages and towns ‘are entirely military facilities’ does not stand up to any logic and cannot be used as an excuse for destroying them, displacing their inhabitants, and preventing them from returning,” Salam said in a statement.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, speaking from southern Lebanon, stated that Israel would not withdraw from the “security zone” under any circumstances . “We are destroying Hezbollah infrastructure and all the homes in the security zone, and we will not allow our citizens to be threatened,” Katz said . He added that Israeli forces would also remain in areas inside Syria and the Gaza Strip .

The remarks came despite a US-brokered framework agreement signed in June calling for Israel’s gradual withdrawal from Lebanese territory in exchange for the Lebanese army’s deployment and the disarmament of armed groups.[]
