ISRAEL KILLED A TEEN IN RAMALLAH

Ramallah, 17 Dhulhijja 1434/22 October 2013 (MINA) – A young Palestinian was killed during an IOF raid on the village of Bil’in, west of Ramallah, PNN reporter said Tuesday (22/10).

Israeli forces stormed the village amidst firing tear gas and acoustic bombs, activist media Occupied Palestine reported as quoted by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA) and saying no details have been revealed yet regarding the martyr’s identity.

Coordinator for Popular Committees to resist wall and apartheid, Abdullah Abu Rahma, said that Israeli forces raided the eastern area of the village and announced it a closed military zone. Several checkpoints were set on the main road, and students were banned from reaching their schools.

Local sources said that clashes erupted between the Israeli forces and students.

Yediot Ahranot daily newspaper reported that Israeli Army attempted to arrest two Palestinians belonging to Islamic Jihad, claiming that one of them ran and hid in a cave in Bil’in. The soldiers have surrounded the cave and engaged in a firefight with the Palestinian.

Israeli forces also arrested four Palestinians from Kufr Nimeh in the same province.

On the same day, Israeli soldiers also raided the Ramallah area village of Kufr Nimeh  to arrest activists and in the pursuit shot and killed one Palestinian, according to residents.

They said Muhammad Assi, 25, was shot and killed after he took refuge in a cave outside the village following the army raid.

Abdullah Abu Rahmeh, from the nearby village of Bilin, said that a large army force raided the two villages to arrest people.

He said exchange of gunfire was heard in the area and later reports said the soldiers have killed Assi, who is from the village of Beit Liqya and arrested three other people from Bilin.

The army also used bulldozers to raze land between the two villages destroying in the process a number of olive trees.

People said the army closed off the area of its operation and would not allow ambulances to reach it.

Residents also clashed with soldiers in Bilin. Soldiers fired tear gas and rubber bullets at the people injuring a number of them.(T/P03/P04)
